The goal of this class is to engage and motivate student interest in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (aka STEAM) through project-based learning. Students in this class will be introduced to the engineering process, programming with finches, and micro-bit. We will incorporate art and other mediums to learn about technology and engineering. The sixth-grade class is part of an exploratory rotation. Students spend about 10 weeks in each of our classes STEAM, art, and Guidance.
The Robotics elective is a course offered to 7th & 8th-grade students. This class will be a continuation of the STEAM rotation. This course covers robotics, computer graphics, and design and modeling.
Units include but are not limited to:
MakeCode as an introduction to coding.
VEX IQ Robotics where students work in teams to build and program various robots.
The use of SketchUp, TinkerCAD, or Blender will be to create models for 3D printing. Students will learn to model, slice, and print.
